Photo Light Facials to Fade Brown Spots
What is IPL Laser?
IPL is a non-invasive laser technology that delivers a broad spectrum of light beneath the skin’s surface to reverse the signs of sun damage, age spots, and hyper-pigmentation. The light energy in IPL is absorbed by the pigments in our skin that we don't like, causing intense heat that damages or destroys the structure holding the color, ultimately removing the spots.

How Does IPL Work?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a laser technology that delivers a broad spectrum of light beyond the skin’s surface to reverse the signs of sun damage, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. The wavelengths of light penetrate deep into the skin tissue to stimulate the cells beneath the skin’s surface, rejuvenating the skin and removing sun damage. The light energy in IPL is absorbed by the pigments in our skin that we don't like; causing the generation of heat that damages or destroys the structure that holds the color.

IPL Light Therapy FAQS
-
During a session of our IPL treatment in Brooklyn, the intense blast of light and heat may be mildly uncomfortable. You and your Zapologist will put on goggles to protect your eyes from the laser. The discomfort feels like the mild snapping of a rubber band. The number of treatments required depends on the severity of the skin condition. Immediately after treatment, you may see the treated spots become slightly darker. The treated area may have a slight sunburned sensation for a few days. It can take up to 3 weeks for the discoloration to slough off. For best results, 3-6 treatments are necessary spaced about one month apart.
-
Visible results become apparent after just one treatment. In the weeks following, skin is more evenly toned, pore size is reduced and there is a noticeable reduction in the appearance of age spots, discoloration, broken blood vessels, acne, redness, fine lines, and wrinkles. The final result after a series of IPL treatments is clearer, younger-looking skin.
-
The downtime with IPL is dependent on the amount of underlying damaged cells the client may have. The redness will subside in a couple of hours and you can resume normal activity. The darkened spots can be covered with makeup but require 3-5 days to slough off.
-
You will see results after just one treatment! Pore size will be reduced, brown spots faded, and a more evenly toned skin will be exposed. We recommend getting 3-6 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart to get the most dramatic results. Book your IPL treatment in Brooklyn at Zapped Beauty today!

No! IPL does not hurt. Depending on the laser, the most you will feel is either a warm sensation or a light snapping of a rubber band. This feeling subsides immediately after your treatment. Afterward, you’ll feel a mild sensation similar to a sunburn. Depending on the number of damaged cells beneath your skin, it may take 5-7 days for the darkened spots to go away and potentially three weeks for full discoloration to fade.
-
IPL is the ideal procedure to eliminate the discoloration and textural irregularities that make your skin look older. But even after the procedure, you will continue to age and be affected by the sun and elements. To maintain the healthy glow that IPL can bring, clients should come back periodically for touch-up treatments.
-
IPL involves relatively little discomfort and no downtime. Unlike many laser techniques, the procedure is non-ablative, meaning no skin is removed during treatment. This contributes to the relatively easy recovery and low risk associated with the IPL while allowing clients to return to their everyday routine immediately. However, clients should be aware of both the risks and benefits of IPL; potential risks include bruising, blistering, scabbing, and changes in the skin's pigmentation, although most of these issues soon disappear.

Step 1
The first step of IPL Light Therapy in Brooklyn is to chill the skin with the Zimmer cooling machine that blows continuous cold, numbing air on your skin during your laser treatment. We also apply a coupling gel to help the laser glide smoothly over the skin and keep your skin cool as the heated light or laser travels over it.
Step 2
IPL light energy accurately targets and removes pigmented and damaged skin cells or hair follicles to drastically reduce brown spots and hair. Using a handheld device, your Zapologist will target the light energy onto your skin. The light heats the skin cells and breaks them down. The body then purges the damaged cells naturally.
Step 3
This final step is Zapped Beauty's signature touch. All light and laser treatments finish with a cooling mask and cooling globe massage. This massage eases discomfort and kickstarts the healing process. Both light and laser treatments leave skin sensitive and slightly red. This final step cools the skin and diminishes redness and discomfort.
